Christopher Landis is a cellist, audio engineer, and music producer originally from Okemos, Michigan. He began his cello studies at Central Michigan University with Dr. Jamie Fiste, later continuing at Mannes College in Manhattan under Barbara Mallow and Jeffrey Zeigler. Currently the Acting Assistant Principal Cellist of the Midland Symphony Orchestra, Christopher has served as Principal Cellist with Apotheosis Opera and Manhattan Symphonie, and Assistant Principal Cellist with Camerata New York.
His performance credits include appearances with the WCIT World Orchestra in Armenia, cello soloist for Lamb of God Midland, and the Traverse City Philharmonic. As both a symphonic and chamber musician, he has toured extensively throughout China, Europe, and North America, performing in venues such as Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall, and Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center.
In addition to his work on stage, Christopher has an extensive background in audio engineering. At White Pine Music, he has collaborated with ensembles including Arcos Trio, Carter Brey, Elena Urioste, Christopher O’Riley, and the Catalyst Quartet. He also served as lead sound mixer for an Off-Broadway production of 13: The Musical. While living in New York City, he branched into the fashion world, working with clients including Gucci, YSL, Chanel, Etro, and Anna Wintour.
In 2020, Christopher relocated to Nashville to focus on songwriting and music production, releasing a self-produced album and three singles while working with a diverse range of artists—from indie singer-songwriters to hip-hop artists. Since moving to Sanford, Michigan in 2022, he has devoted himself to his production studio, spearheading new musical projects, mentoring emerging music artists, and continuing his audio engineering work as sound engineer for the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra. He also supports young musicians through his involvement with the Saginaw Bay Youth Orchestra and remains an active performer with symphonies, chamber ensembles, and theater companies across the state.
When he’s not immersed in music, Christopher enjoys learning about philosophy and cooking, as well as learning to sail an old 32-foot sailboat ‘up north.’
